EF BSD to Bukit Thalita Resort

EF BSD Tangerang

On Sunday March 2, 2008 the teachers and staff of EF BSD went on an outing. We went to Bukit Thalita Resort in Puncak. We left EF at about 7am and arrived at the resort just before 10am. A long trip! Once we arrived we had snacks and took a rest before starting our activities.

Our first activity was a game called swap places. All the participants formed a big circle and took off their left shoe. The object of the game was to run through the circle and swap your “house” (shoe) with another house. The person who failed to find a new house had to stay in the middle until the next round.

After this activity we were asked to split into three groups for the next game. Each group had to invent a cheer. For the next few activities, the human chain, the nail in the bottle, and the flying fox, each group had to perform their cheer before participating.
The human chain game involved everyone holding hands in a small circle. We had to try and free ourselves and make a big circle without letting go of the other people’s hands. It was quite difficult. Next, we had to try and move a nail which was tied behind our backs into an empty bottle. We couldn’t look at the nail, but we had a partner giving us directions to try and get it in the bottle. Finally, we went on a flying fox ride. This is a fun activity that tests your bravery. You start out at a great height, and fly down a zipline very fast toward a lower landing area. Some people were very frightened.
We were quite tired after finishing these activities, so we moved down to the poolside restaurant to have lunch and take a rest. After lunch, we got ready again for the last two activities of the day, which would take place by the pool. The first poolside activity was the pipe fill. We had to work together to use buckets to fill a hollow pipe with water in order to get a ball out of the top. Unfortunately, the pipe had holes drilled into the side, so the water escaped almost as fast as we could pour it in. in the end, none of the teams were successful in this activity.

The last activity of the afternoon was the pillow fight. A representative from each team lined up on a slippery pole suspended over the swimming pool. Each player had a bag filled with wet stuffing that they could use to knock the other player into the water. The bags were very heavy, and some people could not swing them very hard. The game was a lot of fun, but everyone got soaking wet, not just because they fell in the pool, but because we played this game in the pouring rain!

After another rest and some more snacks we finally began to head home. We all had a great time, and we hope to have more fun group adventures in the future.
